The full version of the Popular HDR software is out of beta with a full release

HDRSoft has released the stable version of the popular High Dynamic Range Imaging program Photomatix Pro 3.0. Among notable new features are a Workflow Shortcuts palette and two ghosts removal algorithms. The program is available for $99.00 direct from HDRSoft and a free trial version is available. There is no upgrade charge for license holders for 2.x versions of Photomatix Pro.
A Standalone application. Merges differently exposed photos into one image with details in both highlights and shadows:
› Exposure blending
› Creation of 32-bit HDR images
› Tone Mapping tool
› Automation with easy-to-use Batch Processing

The new 5D II will not be released at Photokina, but instead will be a surprise announcement on April 22, according to a source I am unwilling to disclose.
The specs of the new camera are as follows (final name unavailable):

An Individualized photo web pages for user called My Shot is introduced by NGM.
“My Shot” allows photographers of all skills to create their own web page at http://www.ngm.com to display their best photographs.
“My Shot” members are able to upload and save up to 100 photographs on their own “My Shot” page. Members will also be able to use a drag-and-drop version of NGM.com’s cutting-edge jigsaw puzzle generator on their pages. Any photo saved to “My Shot” can be turned instantly into a jigsaw puzzle. There is also a custom version of a popular memory-sorting game that users can create from their own photos.
“My Shot” members can also submit their photos to National Geographic’s popular “Your Shot” feature, where a dozen photos are selected each day by editors to appear on-line, with those photos being rated by readers. At the end of the month, the winning photo will be published in National Geographic Magazine itself, which reaches 40 million readers worldwide.

Andreas Schoemann, developer of FDRTools, announced the new stable release version 2.1 that improves Project Management including folding/unfolding projects and sort-by options, speaks Italian, and adds RAW support for many new cameras and other improvements. Additionally, a number of bugs have been fixed.

The international jury of the 51st annual World Press Photo Contest selected a color image of the UK photographer Tim Hetherington as World Press Photo of the Year 2007. The picture was taken 16 September 2007 and shows a US soldier resting at “Restrepo” bunker, named after a soldier from his platoon who was recently killed by insurgents.
The 2nd Battalion Airborne of the 503rd US infantry is undergoing a deployment in the Korengal Valley in the Eastern province of Afghanistan. The valley is infamous as the site of downing of a US helicopter and has seen some of the most intense fighting in the country. Hetherington’s photograph is part of a picture story that was also awarded 2nd Prize in General News Stories. He had traveled to Afghanistan on assignment for Vanity Fair.
